During wars, animals have been used by armies because of their unique ability to undertake tasks that were difficult or impossible for humans. Over challenging terrain, they carried messages and transported equipment, people and supplies. They also helped to find people and save lives.Horses were more specifically used as transport to:-deliver mail-pull heavy military equipment and ambulance wagons-carry the wounded out of battle.Just like other countries, including the United Kingdom, people are encouraged to wear the purple poppy alongside the traditional red poppy as a reminder that both humans and animals have and continue to serve.More information on the animals that served can be found here anzacportal.dva.gov.au/wars-and-missions/ww1/military-organisation/animals-in-military#3Every purple poppy bought supports the Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation www.purplepoppies.com.au/ ... Looking for a nationally-recognised coaching qualification?The PCANCAS Preliminary Coach Course Outline has been updated, following the 2019 revision of the Pony Club Australia Syllabus of Instruction and to reflect contemporary practices in sports coaching and horse keeping.The 2021 Course Outline has been structured around the format used by the Australian Skills Quality Authority and has been developed in association with state Pony Club Association representatives working on the Pony Club Australia Coaching Advisory Council.Head over to ponyclubaustralia.com.au/pcancas/ to view the 2021 Course Outline and read the summary of 'what’s new'.Contact your State Pony Club Association to register your interest. All current coaches will be emailed an electronic copy of Supplementary Notes detailing the new content added to the qualification.
