New Chair for PCA Board

Heather Disher is the new Chair of the Pony Club Australia Board.

Heather was elected at the first meeting of the new Board on May 20. Marylou Hodges is Deputy Chair. Heather and Marylou are congratulated for their appointments and PCA appreciates them volunteering their time and skills for the benefit of PCA members.

Heather has had 19 years’ experience running businesses locally and globally with a focus on creating a sustainable platform for rapid and ongoing growth. In addition Heather has had 14 years as a director on a range of not-for-profit boards. Heather started riding at Beveridge Pony Club as a child and has been connected with horses ever since.

Dr Andrew McLean was re-appointed as a Director for a third and final two year term. His contribution over that time has been enormous, particularly steering the organisation towards the new syllabus of instruction incorporating equitation science and more focus on horse and rider welfare and safety.

PCA Board Chair Bows Out

All Pony Club Australia Board Members are volunteers. So it is fitting we pay tribute, during National Volunteers Week, to Board Chair Michelle Harper, whose term ended this month.

Michelle was hardworking and dedicated to improving Pony Club for every member. Fellow Board member Andrew McLean thanked Michelle for her four years on the Board, and said, “Michelle believed that the Pony Clubber in Katherine is just as important as the child in Sydney or Melbourne, and she has very much helped ensure the longevity of Pony Club in Australia with changes like the new syllabus and centre membership for those who don't have, or cannot have, their own horse.

"Michelle's desire was for collaboration and compassion with and between member states, zones and individuals; to develop the 'Pony Club family’."
